Flock Illustration operates within a wider rural network. Shearers, farmers, agricultural students, wool producers and local craftspeople contribute to the research and lived context behind the work. These collaborations inform character development, narrative authenticity and the depiction of agricultural processes within The Story of Wool. Through exhibitions, retail partnerships and digital platforms, the project continues to build connections between illustration, agriculture and community.

Living and working within the agricultural landscape, each visual narrative begins with field research — photo journals, sketchbooks and observational studies. My sheep, pasture and seasonal routines form the foundation of every piece of work
Herb-rich Meadows to Shearing Days
From herb-rich meadows and red clover studies to shearing days and flock management — the land’s geography, fields, trails, enclosures, and natural landmarks shape both the imagery and the website’s storytelling.
Authenticity over Abstraction
This connection between place and practice ensures that every illustration is grounded in authenticity rather than abstraction. The work documents seasonal cycles, pasture ecology and the journey of wool from field to finished product.
